Introducing Vital Endocrinology, a New Resource for Maryland Physicians
After more than 25 years in academic medicine and federal service, including clinical training in endocrinology at the National Institutes of Health and leadership roles at the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, I am excited to return to what I have always enjoyed most: caring for patients.
I founded Vital Endocrinology, a Maryland-based Direct Pay telemedicine endocrine practice, to provide highly personalized, evidence-based care for adults with complex endocrine disorders. My goal is to serve as an accessible endocrine partner, helping patients receive timely specialty care while supporting the important work of their primary physicians.
One area of particular interest is Primary Ovarian Insufficiency (POI), a condition that remains significantly underrecognized despite affecting 3-4% of young women. Many women with POI spend years searching for answers. They may present to primary care with irregular menstrual cycles, infertility, hot flashes, fatigue, anxiety, depression, sleep disturbance, brain fog, or unexplained low bone density. Because ovarian function is often intermittent, the diagnosis is frequently delayed.
Three patients you should consider referring
- Women younger than 40 years with irregular or absent menstrual cycles, particularly when accompanied by vasomotor symptoms, infertility, or elevated FSH.
- Women with persistent symptoms despite standard hormone therapy, including ongoing hot flashes, fatigue, cognitive complaints, low libido, sleep disturbance, or concerns regarding optimization of physiologic hormone replacement.
- Women with early osteoporosis or osteopenia, recurrent fractures, unexplained low bone density, or POI associated with autoimmune disease, thyroid disorders, adrenal disease.
In addition to POI, Vital Endocrinology provides consultation for Diabetes, thyroid disease, adrenal disorders, pituitary disorders, osteoporosis, menopause, metabolic bone disease, and other complex endocrine conditions. Every consultation includes a comprehensive review of prior records, patient education, individualized treatment recommendations, and clear communication back to the referring clinician.
I look forward to partnering with you.
