Meet Incoming MCMS President, Sheri Hamersley, M.D., FACOG

Sheri Hamersley, M.D., FACOG, is a board-certified perinatologist and the founder and President of Maternal-Fetal Medicine Associates of Maryland (MFMofMD), a subspecialty practice in Rockville, Maryland dedicated to the care of high-risk pregnancies. Board certified in both Obstetrics & Gynecology and Maternal-Fetal Medicine by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology,

Dr. Hamersley has been at the forefront of her specialty in the Washington metropolitan region since 1996. She currently serves as Division Director of Perinatology in the Department of Obstetrics & Gynecology at Adventist HealthCare Shady Grove Medical Center and holds an appointment as Assistant Professor in the Division of Maternal-Fetal Medicine at The George Washington University School of Medicine and Health Sciences.

A published researcher and frequent medical educator, she has contributed to peer-reviewed literature on topics including preeclampsia, thromboembolism in pregnancy, and the application of telemedicine in maternal-fetal medicine practice.

Dr. Hamersley is a longstanding member of the Society of Maternal-Fetal Medicine and the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists and has participated in international medical mission work in China and Costa Rica. She is an active advocate for pregnancy health awareness and has established clinical education partnerships with universities and colleges throughout the Mid-Atlantic region, welcoming nursing, genetic counseling, and sonography students into her practice. Dr. Hamersley is fluent in English and Spanish and is licensed to practice in Maryland, Virginia, and the District of Columbia
